Notice of Casual Vacancy to be filled by Co-option

The Returning Officer of Winchester City Council has confirmed that a by-election to fill the current vacancy has not been called and the Parish Council may now fill this vacancy by co-option.
To qualify, a person must be a British/Commonwealth/EU citizen, aged 18 years and an elector; must reside in, or within 3 miles of, the Otterbourne Parish boundary or occupy as owner or tenant any land or premises therein, or have their principal or only place of work there; and must not be disqualified from holding office as a Councillor.

The final date for applications to be received is 4 March 2022
Councillors will consider submissions at their meeting on 15 March 2022.
 
 
WHAT THE PARISH COUNCIL DOES
 
The Parish Council is responsible for spending £40,000
of your Council Tax each year. 
It influences and makes decisions about many aspects of village life including:
Play Areas, Recreation Grounds, Open Spaces and the Common,
Footpaths and Pavements, Street Lighting, Bus Shelters, Conservation,
Strategic Planning and Local Applications, Aircraft Noise
and many other matters.
 
 
WORKING AS A COUNILLOR
There are seven Council Meetings per year, each lasting for 2 - 2½ hours
which are always on the third Tuesday evening of the month. 
In addition, there is either a Committee Meeting or Working Party
in those months when there is no full Council meeting.
Councillors all want to take part in their village, to make improvements
and ensure it remains a safe and pleasant place in which to live.
