The Returning Officer for Winchester City Council has vacancies for poll staff and we welcome applications from members of the public to be part of the team of casual election staff on polling day.

Hours and pay vary dependent on role.
No prior experience is required for the majority of roles
Full paid training will be provided, plus travel expenses

Hello and Happy New Year
 
I am writing further to my previous correspondence regarding proposals for the regeneration of Bushfield Camp, Winchester, being brought forward by Legal & General, Gisborne and the Church Commissioners for England.
 
As you will be aware, in November we hosted the first of three rounds of public engagement on Bushfield Camp – a best-in-class mixed use scheme which has the potential to attract major brands looking for new headquarters to the county from sectors including life science, academia, media and the health sector. As a reminder, approximately half of the site will contain built development with the other half to be designed and maintained as publicly accessible and biodiverse green space.
 
In total, we had over 340 members of the local community attend the two public consultation events in November, and we spoke to several more whilst handing out leaflets outside Sainsbury’s in Badger Farm. We understand how important this site is to the city and wider District, and we want to continue to collaborate with local stakeholders to create a scheme that puts sustainability, inclusivity and wellbeing at the heart of its design.
 
To this end, we are delighted to invite you to attend our second round of consultation events on:

• Friday, 13th January from 3-7pm at Shawford Parish Hall and
• Saturday, 14th January from 10am-2pm at Badger Farm Community Centre

We will also be hosting an informal pop-up consultation stall at the Saturday Winchester Market as part of our drive to ensure we consult with a large and diverse section of the community. This second round of engagement events will see us report back on feedback received so far and consult on the concept masterplan. A final set of events will then be held in March to gather local feedback on the final masterplan before an outline planning application is submitted early in the summer.
 
I have also attached a copy of the newsletter that, further to newsletters that were sent out in November, was sent to over 3,500 residential and business addresses in the local area in mid-December. Along with other supportive information, there is also an interactive map and survey on our website – www.bushfieldcampregeneration.co.uk – where residents are invited to add their comments and questions. A further survey will be published following the January events.
